The Whiteside Forum will host guest speaker and historical object expert Ralph Kennedy from Mount Carroll, IL on Sunday February 26th at the Community Room of the Odell Public Library, starting at 2:00pm. Mr. Kennedy is the owner of Kennedy Furniture Conservation and he will describe to us the distinction and philosophical differences of Preservation, Conservation and Restoration of cultural and historical properties with some personal case study examples. The Odell Public Library is located at 307 S. Madison St. Morrison, IL and all Forum events are free and open to the public.<br/><br/>These case study examples will include: a Chest of Drawers from the room where President Lincoln died, an elegant settee destroyed in a storage building, and a 1920’s Woods Brothers threshing machine. WASHINGTON Questions continue to swirl around a building under construction that collapsed in a Northwest DC neighborhood Thursday.
Around 3:30 pm, a five-story condominium project collapsed at 916 Kennedy Street in Northwest DC. Firefighters rescued one construction worker who was trapped in the rubble; he s currently recovering in the hospital.
According to District officials, the property is owned by “Ralph Kennedy LLC” and “10Square Development.
Around 4:30 pm, 10Square Development’s website showed a design named “The Ralph” that was to be built at 916 Kennedy Street NW site. However, less than an hour later, that design was taken down from the development firm’s webpage.
