The second case in almost two decades wherein a judicial officer of
Shivajinagar sessions court has been booked under graft charges took a step ahead on Wednesday. The sessions court rejected the
anticipatory bail application of Vadgaon Maval court’s sitting judicial
magistrate – first class (JMFC), Archana Jatkar, in connection with a case registered against her at Dehu Road police station (PS), involving charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The court observed a conspiracy between magistrate and arrested prime accused Shubhavari Gaikwad, who was nabbed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on January 15 this year while accepting a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh. The investigation revealed 147 phone calls between Gaikwad and Jatkar, clearly showing a connection between the two.
