Kolkata, Dec 17 : The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday posted three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from West Bengal on central deputation for five years.
In a letter issued on Thursday, the ministry said that south Bengal Inspector General (IG) Rajeev Mishra has been posted as the IG of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Deputy Inspector General (Presidency Range) Praveen Tripathi as DIG Sashastra Seema Bal and Diamond Harbour Superintendent of Police Bholanath Pandey as SP of Bureau of Police Research and Development.

The Centre had asked the West Bengal government on Thursday to immediately relieve 3 IPS officers for joining central deputation, saying all of them were already given new assignments, according to officials.

KOLKATA: The tussle between the Centre and the West Bengal government over the attack on BJP’s national president JP Nadda’s convoy continued as the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday issued an order transferring three Bengal IPS officers to central services ignoring the state’s objection.
Earlier, the state government asked the three officers Rajeev Mishra (IG South Bengal), Praveen Tripathi (DIG Presidency Range) and Bholanath Pandey (SP, Diamond Harbour) to serve in the central deputation as they were in-charges to oversee Nadda’s security.
In a reply, the state government opposed the Centre’s move and wrote that it would not release the officers.

New Delhi, Dec 17: The Centre sent a fresh missive to the West Bengal government on Thursday, asking it to immediately relieve three IPS officers who have been sought for central deputation, saying all of them were already given new assignments, officials said.
In a communication to the West Bengal chief secretary, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said according to the IPS cadre rules, the Centre prevails over a state government in case of any dispute. It said the three IPS officers were already given new assignments in the central government and they should be relieved immediately, the officials said.

In a letter written to state DGP and chief secretary, the MHA informed that Bholanath Pandey has been appointed as SP in the Bureau of Police Research and Development, Pravin Kumar Tripathi as DIG in Sashastra Seema Bal, and Rajiv Mishra as IG in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. The letter adds that the state has to relieve them immediately.
