In the 1990s, Chittorgarh MLA Chandrabhan Aakya was in BJP s student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and area MP and BJP state unit chief CP Joshi was a member of rival National Students Union of India (NSUI). The two leaders took on each other in every student union election for six years at the Chittorgarh College. In the 2013 election, Aakya beat Joshi to an MLA ticket, but Joshi got the upper hand when the party chose him to fight from Chittorgarh Lok Sabha seat in 2014.
