LAHORE: Spokesperson of the Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab has refuted a news item published in a section of the press regarding removal of VC University of Sahiwal on the charges of corruption and misuse of authority.
In handout issued Thursday, the spokesperson clarified that an MPA in the Punjab Assembly session pointed out some alleged irregularities and misuse of power by the vice chancellor University of Sahiwal, the other day upon which the Minister of Higher Education Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz assured that if some specific corruption was pointed out by the MPA, an inquiry may be initiated against the VC.

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday he has directed the Pakistan Army to help ensure along with police and Rangers that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding COVID-19 are strictly implemented and followed.
In a televised address after chairing the meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) for COVID-19, the prime minister urged the masses to adopt preventive measures against coronavirus so that the situation remained under control and a lockdown of big cities is avoided.
“We have been instructing the people to follow the SOPs but they neither have fear nor are cautious. Therefore, the pandemic is spreading rapidly,” he said.

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday he has directed the Pakistan Army to help ensure along with police and Rangers that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding COVID-19 are strictly implemented and followed. The prime minister made the announcement after 144 people died of the virion across the country in 24 hours on Friday, preceding a fortnight of over 100 deaths nationwide.
At night, Pakistan Army personnel along with the assistant commissioner and police visited various markets in Islamabad. Those flouting the rules and showing no regard for COVID-19 SOPs were fined, while some persons were arrested, Geo news reported.
