A DOWNTON Abbey star who is volunteering at a vaccination hub says he is the first human contact some patients have had for months. Actor Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Grantham in the popular ITV series, has been welcoming surprised residents on their way to get the Covid-19 vaccine at the Midhurst pharmacy vaccination centre. The 57-year-old, who sports a cowboy hat and high visibility jacket as he guides patients into the centre as a regular volunteer marshal, said it is the first time some people have left their home since the pandemic hit. He told the BBC: “For some people it’s the first time they’ve been out of their house in a year.

HUGH Bonneville has revealed he is working as a volunteer marshal at a coronavirus vaccination centre. The Downton Abbey star, 57, shared an image of him being given the AstraZeneca jab at the West Sussex centre. He said he is “delighted” to be part of the team in Midhurst. He wrote on Instagram: “Midhurst’s Riverbank Medical Centre started vaccinating last week. Today Midhurst Pharmacy, led by Raj Rohilla, joined the rollout in north West Sussex.” Alongside an image of him with others working at the centre, he added: “With former nurse Jo Wiltshire (left), Raj and retired GPs Andrew Douglas & Madelaine Litchfield (who gave me my AstraZeneca jab).”
