a massive muddy mess, as you can see, in california. flash flooding sending water, mud and rocks rushing across interstate 5 near las vegas causing hundreds of cars to actually get stuck in at least five feet of mud. some of the drivers were stranded in their cars for more than an hour. and there s still a 0-mile shutdown in both directions. if you re in that area, you need to know about it as crews try to clear up the mess. but the thunderstorms, not over yet. maria is here live with that great news. wow. 30-mile shutdown? yeah. unfortunately we re getting what we need, which is rain out west, especially across california. but when you get rain on such dry ground, you tend to get a lot of runoff and flash flood situations like this and mudslides are a concern in that part of the country. we have an upper level low continuing to thin out here. we continue to see that moisture streaming into portions of southern california, across parts of arizona and that s going to be increasing
