Army arrest Bandits leader in Niger state as Security Joint Force combs forest, other hideouts

By Wole Mosadomi The renewed military operation, waging total war against bandits in Niger state has yielded a good result as one of the notorious leaders of the bandits has been arrested. The leader simply called Jack Bros Yellow was smoked out of his hide out from one of the forests between Shiroro and Rafi Local Government areas of the state. Jack Yellow was said to have been terrorizing many communities in three different local government areas Shiroro, Munya and Rafi local government areas of the   state for the past months. Because of the arrest of the gang leader few days ago, many of his followers are said to have gone underground but the security operatives are trailing them.

Share The Senate, on Tuesday, resolved to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the security situation in the country occasioned by insurgency, banditry and kidnapping. The resolution was on the heels of a motion by Senator representing Niger East, Sani Musa. Senator Musa while presenting his motion recalled the activities of bandits and Boko Haram terrorists in Shiroro, Munya and Rafi Local Government Areas of Niger State which he noted has taken a dangerous dimension. He noted that almost seven years now his senatorial district has come under constant and sustained multiple deadly attacks by heartless, venomous and hydra-headed Boko Haram terrorists who are always heavily armed with assorted sophisticated and dangerous weapons unleashing their horror on our innocent populace.

By Naomi Sharang Abuja, April 27, 2021 The Senate on Tuesday sought the establishment of a permanent military and police command base in the area adjoining Shiroro and Rafi Local Government areas of Niger state, to tackle escalating insecurity in the state. The resolution was sequel to a Point of Order raised by Sen. Sani Musa (APC-Niger) at plenary. The upper chamber also urged the Chief of Army Staff and the Inspector-General of Police to redesign the mode of operations of the military in the affected areas, so as to curtail escalating insecurity. The motion was titled “The activities of bandits and Boko Haram terrorists in Shiroro, Munya and Rafi Local Government Areas of Niger State: And the need to bring an end to the menace.”
