Some 220 Democrats and 47 Republicans approved the legislation to safeguard the constitutional laws on same-sex marriage following the overturn of Roe v. Wade in June.
The reforms were proposed by the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General's office to women's groups. Queensland is the second-largest state, found in the northeast region of Australia.
