Yellow Jackets rout Eagles 39-59

/ KNLV AM & FM Feb 17, 2021 2:11 PM The Chadron State College women’s basketball team moved to 0-10 on the season tonight after falling at Black Hills State University 39-59 in Spearfish. With the win, the Yellow Jackets earned 19 wins of the last 20 matchups between the two teams and secured the season sweep 2-0. BHSU came out strong and made their first impression on the scoreboard a lasting one, allowing no lead changes and taking firm control at 22-6, heading into the second quarter. The largest lead of the night was 31 points (45-14), occurring at 7:46 in the third quarter. The Eagles shot 29.6% on field goals (16-54) compared to the Yellow Jackets 32.2% (19-59) but it was the 30.6 three-point percentage (11-36) that proved to be essential for the home team win. In comparison, the Eagles shot 14.3 three-point percentage and only made two of 14 attempts.

Scott led the offense with a season-high 32 points, and his seven rebounds matched Senghore-Peterson added 17 points while Sindou Cisse totaled 14 along with four rebounds and a steal. Moussa grabbed two steals and dished four assists, while adding nine points on a trio of 3-pointers.

A big part of their success is due in part to Racquel Wientjes who’s not only leading Black Hills State, but she’s one of the top players in the conference, as well. The Black Hills State women’s basketball team is currently third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings this year with a 4-1 record. Senior guard Racquel Wientjes has played a major role in the Yellow Jackets success. “This year has been crazy obviously with COVID and then with our two posts going out,” Racquel Wientjes said. “I’ve been playing all different roles kind of from the point guard to the post. It’s definitely been a learning experience for myself too.”
