DENEEN SMITH and ADAM ROGAN Lee Newspapers Jul 5, 2021 3 min to read Racine County is expecting to receive millions of dollars to fund opioid treatment and prevention programing through the settlement of a lawsuit against drug manufacturers, under a bill passed by the Wisconsin Legislature and signed by Gov. Tony Evers on Wednesday. Although he called some aspects of the bill unconstitutional, Evers signed a bill that will provide the bulk of the cash coming to Wisconsin as part of the settlement to county governments, including Kenosha and Racine counties. Evers Evers stated that he signed the bill “because it will help bring much-needed funds to communities throughout Wisconsin to address the opioid pandemic through a settlement with opioid manufacturers and distributors.”
