The station is joining with a range of organisations to host interviews and daily features to raise awareness of the condition. Manager Shirley Ludford said: “Dementia is not a natural part of ageing and there are over 100 causes and diseases of this condition. Covering the subject across seven days gives an opportunity to widen awareness and understanding. “The word action is important and positive. Taking action when we are concerned, when help is needed for those with the condition, for carers, and for research and funding.”

Santa-gram campaign to bring happiness to older people this Christmas

Santa-grams are being delivered to elderly people all over town as part of a campaign to share some festive joy. Cards, pictures, letters and poems from schoolchildren, businesses and local organisations have been collected by Home Instead Senior Care and put into 400 parcels. “It’s amazing to see the incredible thought, generosity and care put into each individual letter, poem, picture, donation and so much more, said engagement officer Rachel Jannaway. “We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of donations contributed to our Be a Santa to a Senior Santa-Gram campaign. In a year where older people may have had to spend a lot of time at home we can’t wait to bring some festive cheer to their doorstep.
