Truckful of winterwear, 60 volunteers, Ludhiana goes all out for protesting farmers
After its overwhelming participation in the Bharat Bandh, the industrial town of Ludhiana has now donated generously to send a list of items to the farmers who have been protesting for days at Delhi borders. December 17, 2020 10:48:47 am

A truck loaded with thermals, sweaters, medicines, mufflers, socks, turbans, garbage bins and more were sent from Ludhiana to the Tikri border Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, around 60 Ludhianavis also reached the border Wednesday afternoon to distribute these items among farmers protesting there against the Centre’s farm laws.
Six buses ferrying protesters left from Sangrur, 3 from Bathinda, 2 each bus from Barnala, Ludhiana and Mansa, while 1 each left from Patiala and Moga.
Apart from this, over 10 trolleys left for Tikri border Tuesday, informed Sukhdev Singh Kokrikalan, general secretary of BKU (Ugrahan). The initiative is a result of an appeal by the Ugrahan group to families to highlight their stories of farm suicides at the Delhi protest site.
Charanjeet Kaur, from Bhucho Khurd area of Bathinda, has gone to Delhi with a framed picture of her husband, Manjeet Singh, who committed suicide in 2018. Vikkar Singh of Barnala, who left in a tractor trolley, had seen his son, Gurmeet Singh, committed suicide in December 2007.
Gurpreet and Labh were cremated in the village Tuesday evening.
“Gurpreet Singh was a marginal farmer with one and a half-acre of land. His sister is married. He had gone to Delhi along with other farmers of the village on December 11,” said Sucha Singh, worker of Krantikari Kisan Union( KKU) from Patiala. All the farmers were from KKU.
Labh Singh’s has three children who are married. He was farming on 5 acres of land.
After the accident, Haryana Petrol Pump Dealers Association announced that all petrol pump owners of the state will make arrangements for farmers to stopover for the night at highway petrol pumps so that they can avoid travelling during night hours. “This decision was taken after the post-midnight accident near Karnal,” said Sanjeev Chaudhary, president of the association.

AFTER BRIEFLY sealing borders with Punjab at three points on Saturday, Haryana created barricades on Pipla Bridge in Hansi district Sunday morning. Hurdles were created overnight using sewer pipes and a cement-bitumen mixture in between to strengthen the barrier. Boulders were also used.
Ranjodh Singh Lambi, a youth Akali Dal worker who was going to Delhi on Sunday before noon, saw these barriers being removed by farmers of Punjab and Haryana jointly with the help of tractors. “I was going to Delhi along with other villagers, when a traffic blockade was seen at Pipla Bridge and later we came to know about barricading done by Haryana government.
