Under a resolution heard in committee on Monday, Orsted and Eversource, the developers of the 65-turbine project proposed in Atlantic Ocean waters between Block Island and Martha’s Vineyard, would pay the state at least $2 million for a 25-year submerged lands lease for the two cables, which would connect to the power grid in the Quonset Business Park in North Kingstown.
The agreement comes after a spat between leadership in the General Assembly and the CRMC over who has the authority to grant large submerged land leases.
