May 14th, 2021 By David Knox Make a commentFiled under: News, Screen Queensland has selected Brisbane-based writer, producer and director Clare Sladden to run a writers’ room to develop her TV drama series Pathological, under the guidance of renowned U.S. showrunner Bradford Winters ( Oz, The Sinner, The Americans, Berlin Station). This writers’ room opportunity is the prized final component of the Bradford Winters Series Lab, which was facilitated in-person by Winters in March at Screen Queensland’s Brisbane headquarters. Five participants were selected for the week-long lab, which concluded with participants pitching to Netflix, Stan or SBS executives for feedback.

Qld filmmakers get Authentic

March 11th, 2021 By David Knox Make a commentFiled under: News, Filmmakers from Cairns and Townsville have commenced production on their short documentary projects, as part of Authentic – a Screen Queensland initiative with Screenworks. Authentic is a fully funded $4,000 opportunity for three filmmaking teams, based in Far North Queensland and extending to North Queensland, to produce short films about significant personalities in their region. Each team will work closely with a mentoring producer from ABC to refine their shooting scripts, production planning, rough cuts and final edits, with potential for completed work to be greenlit to screen on ABC platforms. Screen Queensland Chief Creative Officer Jo Dillon said, “We are delighted to announce Cairns teams Janne Rytkönen with Samantha Martin, and Shontell Leah Ketchell with Ewan Cutler, alongside Townsville-based creative Robert Crispe, as recipients of the Authentic initiative.
