Residents across Quebec may be checking the skies and wrapping up warm this week as a large weather system looms over Eastern Canada, threatening climatic extremes. From Tuesday to Thursday, a weather pattern will sweep across the province, drenching the west in heavy rain and pummeling the east with sleet, while northern areas are in for a messy mix.
It seems as if winter is in full force across Quebec as we await the biggest snowstorm of the season. The snowstorm is expected to impose several meteorological hazards, including snowfall and a possible freezing rain weather warning from Environment Canada.
Eastern Canada is bracing for some of the coldest air of the season, as a wave of Arctic chill is set to plunge temperatures from Ontario to Nova Scotia this week, including Southern Quebec. The frosty grip, extending all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico, follows a blizzard in far Northern Canada, where Nunavut saw temperatures plummet into the -40s.
As Montrealers delight in the last vestiges of autumn warmth, there's still one thing on everyone's mind: when will the first snow touch down? Traditionally, by the end of October, regions of Quebec see the first signs of the white blanket. But, this year, the timeline might be different.
