A meeting of the State cabinet was held in the secretariat on Saturday. Many issues came up for discussion during the meeting chaired by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. In the meeting the cabinet decided to set up a centre of excellence in the ITI Bajpur in Udham Singh Nagar district
The state government-appointed panel, headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, submitted the draft of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The UCC will establish a legal framework for uniform marriage, divorce, land, property, and inheritance laws for all citizens in the state, regardless of their religion.

The draft, prepared by an expert panel led by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, will be submitted on February 2. Uttarakhand aims to be the first state in India to implement the UCC, fulfilling a major electoral promise.
