ELLWOOD CITY Get ready for peaches, pies, baked goods, berries, garlic, goodies, jams, jellies and greens because the Ellwood City Farmers Market is coming back.
This year, the market will take place from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday between June 5 and Oct. 9 in the municipal parking lot at 500 Beaver Ave., and will feature lots of local meats, produce and products, as well as live music and entertainment, so that residents can get groovy while getting their groceries.
The market, funded by an anonymous grant, is organized by Ellwood City Revitalization, part of the Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce, and overseen by Co-curb Masters Katy Mook-McGrath, owner of Katy s Homestyle Bakery and More, and her husband, Michael McGrath.
Big Y Donates over $90K to Local Breast Cancer Groups
Berkshire Medical Center’s Women’s Imaging Center is among programs in Massachusetts and Connecticut that are sharing in $90,000 donated by Big Y Supermarkets.
In order to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, all Big Y Supermarkets donated proceeds from their October initiative “Partners of Hope” to 31 local breast cancer support groups throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. According to a press release from Big Y Foods, Inc., the monthlong program reflects the partnership, commitment and support of breast cancer awareness and research that are so vital for many.
In October, Big Y raised $90,496.00 which was donated the 31 organizations. A portion of that money was donated to Berkshire Medical Center’s Women’s Imaging Center in Pittsfield.
