All India Congress Committee Secretary Sanjay Dutt, on Sunday alleged that if the NDA was voted to power in Puducherry in the April 6 assembly elections, all anti people policies of the BJP would be automatically enforced here. Addressing reporters at the party office here, Dutt said although the Prime Minister had visited Puducherry for poll campaigns, he had not projected AINRC leader N Rangasamy as the Chief Ministerial candidate. Charging the BJP with having adopted all obstructionist policies to stall development of the union territory during the five-year Congress rule, the AICCSecretary said the national party supported the plea of full statehood for Puducherry and was for waiver of loans due to the Centre.
Alleging that notices are being served on people backing the agitation against the farm laws, BKU leader Balbir Singh Rajewal on Sunday asked farmers to gherao Delhi Police personnel if they come to their villages to make an arrest. The BKU (Rajewal) leader also asked the Amarinder Singh-led Punjab government that the state police should not cooperate with the Delhi cops. If the Delhi Police personnel come to arrest you, gather the entire village and oppose them, Rajewal told farmers at a Kisan-Mazdoor Ekta Maha Rally in Punjab s Barnala on Sunday. The rally was organised by the Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) and the Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union. Two days ago, Haryana BKU chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni had made a similar appeal.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday expressed concern over the current level of violence in Afghanistan and urged all sides to take measures towards a ceasefire in the war-torn country. He was talking to Afghan leader Ahmed Wali Massoud, who is head of Massoud Foundation and is visiting Pakistan, according to the Foreign Office (FO). During the meeting, the two focused on the Afghan Peace Process and Pakistan-Afghanistan bilateral relations. The foreign minister expressed serious concern at the current level of violence and underscored that all sides must take measures for reduction in violence leading to ceasefire. He also underlined the need for being vigilant about the role of spoilers.
