Opposing the Varanasi District Judge's order allowing permission for puja in the southern cellar of Gyanvapi mosque, the Anjuman Intezamia Mosque Committee argues that the order was not proper as it was passed without ascertaining the rights of the plaintiff in the disputed property. They claim that the permission for puja is illegal and no cogent reasons were provided in the order.
India News: All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) plans to move the Supreme Court after Varanasi district court's decision to allow 'puja' in a cellar of Gyanvapi mosque. AIMPLB, along with other prominent Muslim organisations, will approach President Droupadi Murmu and write to CJI D Y Chandrachud. They demand the implementation of the Places of Worship Act, 1991 to prevent disputes in the country.
The Allahabad High Court did not give immediate relief to the Gyanvapi Masjid committee that had challenged the order of the Varanasi court allowing Hindu prayers in the southern cellar of the mosque. The court will now hear the matter on Feb 6.
