Thus far, the project progress includes placement of embankment and base course materials for the third travel lane on westbound U.S. 50. Concrete curbing, gutters and sidewalks have also been installed along the east side of Purcell Blvd.
According to a quarterly update flyer from the U.S. 50 public information team, several construction activities will impact motorists traveling through the construction zone this spring and summer with the upcoming work.
On Purcell, traffic will be shifted to the east so crews can install curb, gutter and sidewalk along the west side of the street between Industrial Boulevard and Spaulding Avenue.
When it comes to Pueblo’s real estate market, although residential properties seem to sell in the blink of an eye, commercial real estate is not following the same trend yet.
“Our commercial market has been pretty good for the last several years, but not hot. It is not anything like the rest of the state,” said Dan Molello, a RE/MAX Pueblo realtor who has sold commercial real estate for 49 years in Pueblo.
Even though Pueblo’s residential real estate is selling like hot cakes and pretty much any kind of house will sell fast, commercial real estate, “Is nothing like the residential market that’s for sure not even close. They always have been two different markets,” Molello explained.
Also on Saturday, officers were dispatched at approximately 1 p.m. to the 2500 block of Elmwood Lane.
The victim informed officers that at about 4:50 a.m., he had checked his doorbell camera and noticed what looked like a silver Kia pull up to the residence, but the video cut off and showed nothing further.
He was missing several items from his vehicle, including a dashboard camera, $50 cash, a Karambit and shun knives, a few masks and a flashlight taser.
He told officers the vehicle may have been unlocked, as there did not appear to be damage to his vehicle. He valued the stolen items at $655.
The Pueblo Police Department reported that two officers cruisers were struck by a suspect s vehicle early Saturday morning.
The officers initially responded to a report of an individual in a black pickup truck who had been shot at a north side hotel at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday.
The caller informed police upon arrival that he and his friend in the truck had driven from Denver to meet another man. While waiting, a man approached, opened the driver s side door and pointed a gun at the caller s friend.
At that point, the caller said he fled the vehicle. Officers looked around but found no black truck or evidence of a shooting. A short time later, officers found the friend at a nearby convenience store, but he would not give officers information on the events of the night.
Signs will direct travelers looking to turn onto westbound U.S. 50 around the work.
Crews continue to work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. behind barriers on both eastbound and westbound U.S. 50 between Pueblo Boulevard and Purcell Boulevard.
Normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work during overnight hours and on Saturdays can be expected during some phases of the project.
No work is expected on major holidays. The construction schedule is subject to change based on weather or unforeseen circumstances.
