The Colorado Department of Transportation began construction on the new interchange at US Highway 50 and Purcell Boulevard in Pueblo West in August, and the multiphase project is approximately 30% finished with the first phase.
This phase of the project focuses on lengthening the third westbound travel lane of US 50 between Pueblo Boulevard and Purcell Boulevard along with the construction of on-and–off ramps on the east side of Purcell.
Sidewalks, curbs, and gutters are additional aspects of this design.
“(Lengthening the third lane) has been done behind barriers with not much impact to drivers,” Michelle Peulen, CDOT Region 2 communications manager said. “We will be doing final paving on that once temperatures warm up because asphalt paving is temperature-specific, so we have to wait for warmer weather.”

WEST WENDOVER, Nev. (AP) A federal grant is giving the northeast Nevada city of West Wendover a boost toward building a ground-up downtown that it never had before.
The $1.75 million allocation from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration aims to help the city prepare a site for new business opportunities, Nevada’s U.S. senators, Democrats Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, said in a Thursday news release.
Mayor Daniel Corona told the Elko Daily Free Press the hope is to create a downtown area for development of small shops and multi-family housing.
