Maharashtra alone accounts for 61.8% of the daily new cases with 17,864 cases. It is followed by Kerala with 1,970 while Punjab reported 1,463 new cases, the Health Ministry said. Kerala is reporting a consistently declining trend over the last one month.

Chaos prevailed in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as candidates of two of its allies, the AIADMK and the BJP, filed nomination papers to contest from the same constituency, indicating that all is not well within the alliance.
The AINRC, which leads the NDA in Pondy, settled for 16 of the total 30 seats, leaving the remaining 14 to be shared between the AIADMK and BJP. The seat-sharing talks between the two parties did not reach a consensus after the saffron party insisted on contesting from 10 seats leaving, just four for the Dravidian party. But the AIADMK sought seven seats.

Puducherry: Narayanasamy out of contest, BJP fields Congress rebels
The Congress, which is in alliance with the DMK, is contesting in 15 of the 30 seats in Puducherry. While the DMK will field candidates in 13 constituencies, the other allies VCK and CPI will contest in one seat each
Chennai: Former Puducherry CM Narayanasamy is unlikely to contest in the April 6 Assembly elections to the Union Territory, if the Congress first list is anything to go by. The Congress high command in New Delhi late on Tuesday released a list of 14 candidates in which Narayansamyâs name was missing. Only one more candidate needs to be nominated by the national party.

Congress releases list of 14 candidates for Puducherry polls 2021
The Congress party on Tuesday released a list of 14 candidates for the upcoming Puducherry polls 2021. Earlier on the day, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released a list of 9 candidates for the assembly elections in the Union Territory (UT) of Puducherry.
Puducherry will go to the polls in a single phase on April 6. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
CHECK LIST OF CANDIDATES FOR PUDUCHERRY POLLS 2021
On Sunday, the party had released a list of 34 candidates for West Bengal Assembly elections 2021.Â
Assembly Elections are to be held for 294 seats in West Bengal, 234 seats in Tamil Nadu, 140 seats in Kerala, 126 seats in Assam and 30 seats in Puducherry. The election in Puducherry will be held to elect 30 MLAs.
