Traffic on Peterborough’s Main Street Bridge is expected to resume in mid-December, assistant Town Administrator and Director of Public Works Seth MacLean said.
The bridge replacement project, which broke ground a year ago, is slightly behind schedule due to early construction delays due to COVID-19 and a Christmas Day flood on the worksite, he said.
Work on the east and west abutments has progressed since Christmas, MacLean said, as well as the installation of king piles, which will support the Route 202 retaining wall.
“It is anticipated that the king piles will be completed by the end of spring, and bridge superstructure will be completed by late summer,” he said. “We are confident that lost time can be made up in the coming months, and do not expect significant delays as end of year draws nearer,” he said.
