TAWAU: A 49-year-old Filipino labourer, who slit his friend’s neck with a machete over a RM300 debt dispute three years ago, was sentenced to death by the High Court, here, Wednesday for the murder.
Robin Radjani Saih was found guilty by Judge Dr. Lim Hock Leng of murdering Fazrin Ibrahim, 30, between 1.20pm and 1.40pm on April 24, 2018 at a junction to Taman Warisan 4, in Lahad Datu.
Dr Lim in delivering his decision held that the prosecution had proven its case against Robin beyond reasonable doubt.

Robin had failed to make out his defence of provocation on a balance of probabilities, and has not cast a reasonable doubt in any other respect, said Dr Lim.

TAWAU: The trial of three men charged with trafficking 70,942.52gm of syabu, had started on Monday.
The trial of Tan Teng Siong, 40, Tan Teng Sang, 35, and Tay Thong Keng, 31, was conducted before High Court Judge Lim Hock Leng.
The trio was accused of trafficking the drug at 12.30pm on Nov 9, 2018 in Jalan Haji Karim, here.

The offence under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act carries a life imprisonment, or death sentence, and whipping at least 15 strokes, on conviction.
About four witnesses would be called during the five-day trial.
