WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Winona County health officials are trying to get to the root cause of a slowdown in demand for vaccine appointments in the county.
Public Health Supervisor Melanie Tatge said they’ve seen more appointments going unused at county vaccine clinics.
“We’ve had discussions of what possible barriers there are,” said Tatge. “It could just be the vaccine hesitancy that comes with any vaccine. So, we’ve been really trying to provide education on the safety [and] the efficacy of these vaccines to overcome that.”
Tatge said health officials are also examining the locations of vaccine clinics and if residents are faced with transportation barriers to get to clinics.

WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Winona County health officials have opened up vaccine clinics to the general population.
“If there’s anyone out who has been waiting for those priority populations to be offered or administered the vaccine, now is the time that it is your turn,” said Public Health Supervisor Melanie Tatge. “You can sign up for one of our available vaccine appointments.

The Minnesota Department of Health has stated we should assume the COVID-19variants are in all communities within Minnesota, and it is important to get vaccinated to stop that spre

(KWNO)- Winona County Health and Human Services announced they are scrapping their COVID-19 vaccine waiting list as more shots become available for more residents. Â
The county rolled out an interest form to use as a waiting list for eligible residents earlier this year. Officials would randomly select from the list to set up appointments to get interested people their shots. Â
Local health leaders say they chose to scrap the list after vaccinating 78% of the countyâs over 65 population, expanded eligibility, and surpassing 10,000 doses administered. Â
Public Health Supervisor Melanie Tatge told KWNO Wednesday theyâve been administering shots since January.Â
