Mar 17, 2021 Waunetah M. Powell, 94, of Mifflintown, passed away at 11:24 a.m., on Monday, March 15, 2021, at her residence. Born on April 24, 1926, on Bell Island, Fermanagh Twp., Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Ira and Margaret (Snouffer) Dean. On April 22, 1979, she married her surviving husband, Frederick C. “Fred” Powell with whom she was blessed to share over 41 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her daughters, Evelyn Price and her husband Jeff of Mifflintown and Vicki Van Horn and her husband Steven of Mifflin; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Bates in October, 2020, and a granddaughter, Jackie Berrier.

Born on Dec. 9, 1964, in Lewistown, Mifflin Co., she is the daughter of the late William E. and Louise M. (Marshall) Page. On April 27, 1996, she married her surviving husband, Bryan A. Smith, with whom she was blessed to share almost 25 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Paige A. Smith of Thompsontown. Carol was a 1983 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown and a 1987 graduate of Shippensburg University where she earned a journalism degree.

Born on May 4, 1958 in East Salem, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Harold R. and Sara Jean (Barton) Van Horn. On June 1, 1991, he married his surviving wife, Karen M. (Foltz) Van Horn with whom he was blessed to share almost 30 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one brother, Donald R. “Red” Van Horn of East Salem; one sister in law, Maggie Van Horn of Liverpool; two nephews, Brian Van Horn and family of East Salem and Shawn Van Horn and family of Lewistown; and one niece, Christy Gelnett and family of McAlisterville.
