BRIDGEPORT A state prosecutor with more than 20 years of experience was appointed Tuesday the new supervisor of the prosecutor’s office in the Golden Hill Street courthouse.
Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Ann Falsey Lawlor was appointed by State’s Attorney Joseph Corradino to replace retiring Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Cornelius P. Kelly at the geographical area or GA court.
“Neil Kelly’s retirement presents me with the loss of both a valued colleague and daily interaction with a friend of nearly 30 years and with an incredibly difficult decision, but I am pleased that I have so many outstanding people from whom to choose,” Corradino said.
January 12, 2021 A KNOWN US-based Filipino Dominican priest and microbiologist has joined the global call for people, like those in the Philippines, to avail themselves of the vaccination program against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) amid reports that many are unwilling to be inoculated after being influenced by unscientific claims and broader conspiracy theories. To be clear, as soon as a Covid-19 becomes available for which I am eligible, whether in the USA or here in the Philippines, I intend to be vaccinated with it, said Fr. Nicanor Austriaco, chief researcher at Austriaco Laboratory and professor of biology and theology at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.
On Monday, WHO warned that the risk of further spread of the vaccine-derived polio across central Africa and the Horn of Africa was “high,” noting the large-scale population movements in the region.
More than a dozen African countries are currently battling outbreaks of polio caused by the virus, including Angola, Congo, Nigeria and Zambia.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, many of the large-scale vaccination campaigns needed to stamp out polio have been disrupted across Africa and elsewhere, leaving millions of children vulnerable to infection.

December 13, 2020 AS SCIENTISTS and pharmaceutical companies in rich countries around the world are racing for the development and application of vaccine against the killer coronavirus disease (Covid-19), a Filipino Dominican priest-microbiologist based in the United States has also decided to make a vaccine that will be affordable and accessible to other middle to low income countries, including the Philippines.
“I thought about developing this vaccine when I realized that many of the available vaccines being manufactured today have already been promised to resource-rich countries,” said Father Nicanor Austriaco, chief researcher at Austriaco Laboratory.
Austriaco, who is associate professor of biology and theology at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, said his proposal is to create an oral Covid-19 vaccine using a probiotic yeast.
