Swiftwolfe appears in N B court from Sask Pen on murder charge

Legal aid lawyer Cara Hill told the court she hasn’t been able to reach Swiftwolfe by phone inside the Saskatchewan Penitentiary. She asked for an adjournment to give her time to talk to him. Crown Prosecutor Oryn Holm agreed to the adjournment until Aug. 5 saying the Crown has minimal disclosure. Swiftwolfe was arrested July 7 at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary where he is currently serving four years on weapons charges, uttering threats, assault, evading/fleeing from police, and dangerous driving. Cassandra Fox, 24, is also charged with first-degree murder in Ham’s death. She was arrested at Pine Grove Correctional Centre July 5. She had a show cause hearing scheduled in North Battleford Provincial Court July 9 on charges in another incident but the hearing didn’t proceed. Her next court appearance is Aug. 5.

HIV positive man who spat on hospital worker won t go to prison

The North Battleford Provincial Court heard that the accused is diagnosed as schizophrenic and is currently at the Saskatchewan Hospital forensic unit in North Battleford. Crown Prosecutor Oryn Holm and legal aide lawyer Cameron Schmunk entered a joint submission for sentencing of the accused on April 19. The Crown told the court that the accused spat on a care aide at the Battlefords Union Hospital in November 2020. The spit landed on the care aide who touched it with a bare palm. The aide knew the accused was HIV positive so immediately went through contamination protocols. He was also charged with a break and enter a month prior of his ex-girlfriend’s house in North Battleford where he kicked down the door.
