There are twenty-five students of the St Martin’s Secondary School and their families, all from the Red Zone, who were evacuated as a result of the eruption of the La Soufrière volcano, which began on April 9.
Those students and their families are not forgotten.
In an interview with Mr. Yohance Gibson, Principal of the St. Martin’s Secondary School, THE VINCENTIAN learned that by February, 2021, with the possibility of an eruption looming large, the school’s counsellor, Mrs. Lucy Theobalds, had already contacted the twenty-one families living in the Red Zone, and developed an evacuation plan for each household. Further data revealed that four other families lived within the Orange Zone.
