Respite came the way of the police in Edo State as the Assistant Superintendent of Police in the State Investigation Bureau, ASP Clement Amoko, who was kidnapped in the early hours of Sunday, has been rescued.
The rescue operation was carried out by various tactical and strike forces of the Edo State Police Command.
Our correspondent learnt that Amoko, who was freed late Sunday, had been reunited with his family.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Princewill Osaigbovo, on Monday confirmed the development, but said the policeman was receiving treatment in a hospital due to beating he received in the hand of his abductors.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Clement Amoko, who was kidnapped by some gunmen in his Ogida, Benin home, on Sunday morning, has been rescued.
Amoko, attached to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), was said to have been rescued late Sunday night, hours after he was kidnapped.
Tribune Online gathered that the rescue operation was carried out by men of the Edo State Police command’s various tactical and strike forces.
The police officer is said to be receiving treatment due to the beating he received from his abductors while he has also reunited with his family.
It was gathered that since his abduction’s news became public, policemen have been out to ensure he was released unhurt.
