FALL RIVER Students of Portuguese descent from Fall River area schools may now apply for the annual Fall River Chapter of the Prince Henry Society scholarships. Application forms are available from guidance counselors and may be submitted electronically by April 1 to paulsilvafaria@gmail.com.
This scholarship is open to students graduating from Argosy, Atlantis, Bishop Connolly, Durfee, Diman, Joseph Case, Seekonk, Somerset Berkley, Tiverton and Westport high schools.
Students who live in Greater Fall River but attend other area schools should contact the New Bedford or Taunton chapters to see if they are eligible for their scholarships.

FALL RIVER As COVID challenges continue and cold weather moves into the area, more and more area residents are looking for food assistance. Thanks to the generosity of those who contributed to the Prince Henry Society of Fall River annual holiday food drive, additional funds and food have been provided to food pantries in the Greater Fall River area.
“It is truly humbling to see what was done by everyone and we know that it is much needed,” Joe Borges said. He chairs the Society’s Humanitarian and Relief Committee with Barry Ferreira.
This year, Prince Henry Society members collected almost $4,500 an increase of almost $1,500 from the 2019 food drive donations. In addition, the group collected a total weight of almost 2,000 pounds of food.
