â ¤Chamber AGM and dinner
The Prince George Chamber of Commerce will host its annual general meeting March 16 at the Coast Inn of the North. The meeting runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with dinner with speaker Tom Steadman beginning immediately after.
â ¤Wal-Mart donates
The Prince George Wal-Mart store made a donation of $1,700 Monday to the Prince George RCMP Drug Awareness Service/UNBC Northern Timberwolves Role Model Program.
The money will help bring a select group of amateur athletes to elementary schools classrooms to speak to students about goals, peer pressure, and making good choices.
Staff at the local store raised $859 through an in-store fundraising event, and that amount was matched by Wal-Mart Canada’s home office in Mississauga.
Bill and Dagmar Norton are hoping travellers to the Prince George area are willing to get a “Little Muddy.”
The Nortons opened the Little Muddy Corral Cottage at their ranch on Lower Mud River Road in Chilako, 20 km west of Prince George.
Their concept is a “bales and breakfast” guests can enjoy the rustic surroundings of a working ranch in the forest; paddock and exercise horses if they have them; and then spend the night in a chic, contemporary cabin.
“It’s wildly popular in Europe it’s taken over whole islands,” Dagmar said. “Between Alaska and the Okanagan, there is almost no place where people can stop and exercise their horses  we’ll be the first.”
