Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar of Karnataka claimed that over 40 leaders from the BJP and JD(S) who are against their alliance are willing to join the Congress. This statement came after former BJP MLA Ramappa Lamani joined the Congress without any conditions. He also mentioned that over 100 people from the Aam Aadmi Party who contested the May assembly elections have shown interest in joining the Congress.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has stated that the Janata Dal (Secular) joining the BJP-led NDA will strengthen the alliance in Karnataka and the entire south India. The JD(S) recently announced its alliance with the BJP after a meeting between its leader H D Kumaraswamy and Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J P Nadda.
