a great option if the weather turns bad but instead we ll most likely go back to using it still to draw the oil to the surface? well, i suppose, i mean, there s lots of conjecture that the well bore is not in good shape. and if you need to know a little bit about engineering in order to understand this. if the well bore is not in good shape, this process of closing down the valves on the new cap will put the well under tremendous pressure. and so i would think if you, if you re producing all of the oil that the well can deliver, the pressure there won t be any pressure increase. and, you know, you can reserve increasing the pressure for the storm situation. and so as you watch now then obviously we re looking to see what the pressure readings are in these first six hours and then how they take them on from there. they also say they will do some seismic tests. i assume that and those tests
schwarzenegger and president medvedev speaking english to each other. would have been a lot of fun. mike viqueira at the white house this morning. thanks very much. a setback yesterday in the gulf. a robot increased the amount of oil flowing out. the cap is back on. nbc s tom costello joining us this morning. walk us through this. explain how it happened and how they got the cap back on so quickly. reporter: well, this happened yesterday at about 9:45 eastern time and what happened was one of the remote submarine vehicle accidentally bumped the containment cap on top of the well spewing oil from the bottom of the ocean. it hit a vent and as a result of hitting a vent and closing the vent, apparently we started to see pressure increase and gas increase coming up off of that tube. the concern was that ice might start forming and recall a month ago or six weeks ago the concern was ice forming and blocking the
so the question today has been should general flynn be wrapped into these investigations, should there be an independent investigatioas some senators mccain and gra had called for at the outset of this conversation? and so far, i talked to congressman chaffetz who heads up the oversight committee and said this is playing out, it s basically played out with the resignation of general flynn. you have heard some others, lindsey graham, john mccain again saying look, there are questions that need to be answered at this point. mccain told me when i talked to him that yes, there are questions that need to be answered but he s not planning on doing it in the armed services committee or calling general flynn to testify. so i think that s the tension that you re starting to see play out here. will the pressure increase on congress in general to allow more independent robust investigations, other senators have said this should be like the 9/11 commission, how the 9/11 attacks were investigated,
