Pennsylvania s municipal primary election will take place on
May 18, 2021. Along with the primary election, there are four
special elections to fill vacancies in the General Assembly. Those
that win their special election will serve the remaining term of
the former member.
22nd State Senate District (Lackawanna/Luzerne/Monroe) –
Chris Chermak (R) will face Marty Flynn (D) to replace former Sen.
John Blake (D);
48th State Senate District (Dauphin/Lebanon/York) – Chris
Gebhard (R) will face Calvin Clements (D) to replace former Sen.

Since Gov. Tom Wolf is the head of Pennsylvania state government, it’s logical to think he’d top the list of its highest earners but that is not the case.
In fact, the governor, who earned $195,457, ranked as having the 300th highest earnings among state government employees in 2020 (Wolf donates his pay to charity). He wasn’t even the highest earning elected official on the state government $100,000 Club roster.
I am outraged that what has been described as an âadministrative errorâ on the part of Pennsylvaniaâs Department of State has pushed back the window for justice for survivors of child sexual abuse, resulting in the resignation of Secretary of the Commonwealth Kathy Boockvar.
This was not a minor error, but a massive failure of responsibility to advertise a proposed change to the state constitution that would create a two-year window so victims of sexual abuse as children could pursue justice in civil court for events that occurred decades ago.
How did we get here?
As one of the survivors who advocated for years to have Pennsylvaniaâs statute of limitations on child sexual abuse reformed, I remember well the bittersweet âvictoryâ of 2019. The statute was extended for victims going forward, but a window to allow survivors for whom it had already expired to file civil suits was denied by Republican state senators who asserted that a retroactive provision

Mark Rozzi was crushed Monday when Gov. Tom Wolf called to tell him an amendment seeking to open a window of opportunity in court for old child sex abuse claims would not make the primary ballot this year because of an advertising oversight.
Rozzi, a state representative from Berks County who has recounted how he was raped by a priest in junior high school, has led the charge to change the law for several years. During that time, he’s become a champion of other survivors who stayed in the shadows for decades.
