AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran met with DMDK founder Vijayakant and treasurer Premalatha Vijayakant at the DMDK headquarters on Wednesday
The AMMK and DMDK have come together to ensure the defeat of the DMK, an “evil force,” and the AIADMK, a “force of betrayal,” AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran reiterated on Wednesday.

Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, DMDK, today called off its alliance with the AIADMK after the seat-sharing talks between the two parties didn’t end well. The two parties had three rounds of talks and saw the DMDK demanding 41 seats for its party. However, according to sources, the AIADMK was not willing to give more than 12 seats to the party led by actor-turned-politician Vijayakant.

The fact that the DMDK is yet to finalise a poll pact has not deterred its treasurer Premalatha Vijayakant and her son Vijaya Prabhakaran from submitting applications to contest the polls on behalf of the party, founded by actor Vijayakant. On Thursday, Ms. Premalatha submitted her application to party functionaries at the DMDK’s head office. Mr. Prabhakaran followed suit later in the evening. They are yet to decide on which Assembly constituency they will contest from.
