"Changes in Phospholipid Composition of the Human Cerebellum and Motor " by Sarah E. Hancock, Michael G. Friedrich et al.

(1) Background: Changes in phospholipid (phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylserine, i.e., PC, PE and PS) composition with age in the mitochondrial and microsomal membranes of the human cerebellum and motor cortex were examined and compared to previous analyses of the prefrontal cortex, hippocampus and entorhinal cortex. (2) Methods: Nano-electrospray ionization on a hybrid triple quadrupole–linear ion trap mass spectrometer was used to analyse the brain regions of subjects aged 18–104 years. (3) Results: With age, the cerebellum showed many changes in the major phospholipids (>10% of the phospholipid class). In both membrane types, these included increases in PE 18:0 22:6 and PS 18:0 22:6, decreases in PE 18:0 20:4 and PS 18:0 18:1 and an increase in PC 16:0 16:0 (microsomal membrane only). In addition, twenty-one minor phospholipids also changed. In the motor cortex, only ten minor phospholipids changed with age. With age, the acyl composition of the

Creating an extraordinary life by using the power of your mind

The human brain, even neurologists and neuroscientists know that we have still not figured out the length and breadth of what is possible by this wondrous 3-pound organ. The brain is more powerful than any supercomputer that exists. If we as .

now they use magnetic energy, sound energy, and electric energy to try and actually change the brain or synchronize the brain waves which is what they re doing here. it s called transcranial alternating current. they direct some of the energy near the front of the brain over here, the prefrontal cortex, some further back, people wear a skull cap like what you see there, it s noninvasive so it doesn t hurt. you may feel a little heat or pressure. and they basically sort of target these waves called beta and gamma rays at the specific areas of the brain. what the goal was, these were people over the age of 65, was to have them remember, memorize word lists as they were going through this 20-minute session to try and see how much of a difference it made in terms of the memory. that s a study. they basically had a group of people who did this. a group of people who had the skull cap but did not get any of the specific energy directed at their brain and they wanted to
