Prime accused in suicide case Deepti Kale falls to her death

In a frantic bid to escape after being slapped with the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA),
prime accused in an extortion and abetment to suicide case Deepti Saroj Kale (40), also wanted for multiple other crime cases, fell to her
death from the eighth floor of the
Sassoon General Hospital on Tuesday evening.
Kale and her close aide, Nilesh Shelar, were arrested on April 18 by the Vishrambaug police in the abetment to suicide case of city jeweller Milind Marathe (60). After testing positive for COVID, Kale was housed at the Sassoon hospital since April 24. The police have said that Kale headed an organised crime syndicate and had committed various serious offences along with her gang members. Considering all the charges,
