The man presented by protesting farmers near Delhi at a news conference late Friday had lied about plotting to disrupt their agitation and assassinate four leaders on Republic Day, the police said on Saturday.
The Haryana police have been questioning the man after agitating farmer leaders alleged that he was involved in a conspiracy to kill four of them and disrupt their planned tractor parade in Delhi on January 26.

Protesting farmers at the Singhu border have reportedly busted a conspiracy to assassinate four farmer leaders by nabbing a masked man who claimed to be a part of the plot.
On Friday, while addressing a press conference, farmers at the Singhu border presented a masked man who claimed his team members were allegedly asked to pose as policemen and baton-charge on the crowd if things go out of control during the January 26 tractor rally. He also named police officials allegedly involved in the plan.

Sonipat (Haryana) [India], January 23 (ANI): A day after a masked man at Singhu border of the national capital alleged a plot to shoot four farmer leaders and cause disruption during a tractors march by protesting farmers on January 26, Haryana police on Saturday refuted the accusations saying that that the man has made statements under fear.
While addressing a press conference here, Sonipat SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said that the masked man is a resident of Haryana s Sonipat and is currently unemployed. Yesterday, he (the masked man presented by farmer leaders at Singhu border yesterday) alleged that he was tasked by one inspector Pradeep, SHO of Rai Police Station. Our preliminary investigation shows that there is no inspector named Pradeep is in the district or at Rai Police Station, Randhawa said.
