Bhubaneswar: With Odisha all set for massive vaccination programme against COVID-19, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked concerned officials to launch an awareness campaign to dispel misconceptions on vaccine. Naveen Patnaik chaired a meeting Wednesday to review the COVID-19 situation and readiness made for the vaccination drive. He said the vaccines have raised hopes among the people and India has become the world’s leading vaccine producer. The state is fully prepared to undertake the vaccination programme, he said. Therefore, massive public awareness should be created regarding the vaccine to dispel doubts and misconceptions that the public may have.

National Food Safety Index Ranking: Odisha Secures 13th Position 65
Bhubaneswar: With different food safety measures, Odisha has shoot-up its position to 13th in National Food Safety Index ranking for the year 2019-20 from 26th position in the last year. This was known from the state level food safety advisory committee meeting held on digital mode under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy from Lokseba Bhawan wherein Commissioner Food Safety Smt Yamini Sadangi outlined the issues for discussion.
Reviewing the progress made so far, Chief Secretary Sri Tripathy directed the department to intensify food safety awareness among the people and food business operators (FBOs). He also directed to strengthen the surveillance measures. Sri Tripathy said, “With increasing population in cities and growth centers, the food safety has become more critical both from the view points of individual and public health”. Now, food safety chapters in academic curricula
Bhubaneswar: Food safety chapters will soon find a place in academic curricula at school levels in an attempt to intensify food security awareness among the people and Food Business Operators (FBOs) in the state.
The decision was taken at a state-level Food Safety Advisory Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy here, Wednesday.
Tripathy directed the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department to constitute a technical committee for working out the methods for extending the outreach of food testing activities by leveraging the existing labs of different departments and universalities.
