Kendrapara: With Odisha MPs taking initiative to accord geographical indication (GI) tag to Kendrapara’s famous sweet ‘Rasabali’, people have become eager to know more about this mouth-watering delicacy.
Offering details on preparing the sweet, Baishnab Panda of Keshpur market, who has been in the business of preparing ‘Rasabali’, says, “Earlier the sweet used to be prepared only inside temples and offered to the Lord. With the passage of time, it came out of the temple premises and now it is being sold in hotels, restaurants, fairs and festivals across the state. And the sweet is always in great demand. Children, as well as elders, are fond of it.”

ODRAF team arrives in Paradip, preparations underway to ale

Paradip (Odisha) [India], May 23 (ANI): With Odisha bracing up for cyclonic storm Yaas, the first 22-member Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team on Saturday arrived in Jagatsinghpur s Paradip.
According to the Jagatsinghpur Collector, Sangram Keshari Mohapatra, the epicenter of the Cyclone Yass was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, but no tsunami alert was issued. It is expected to make landfall in northern Odisha and Sundarbans, moving north and northwest. The state government has expedited all preparations. Fishermen who have gone fishing to the sea are being brought back, said Mohapatra.
With Odisha and West Bengal bracing up for cyclonic storm Yaas, the Indian Army on Saturday informed that it has arranged columns and engineer task forces are on standby for rescue and relief operations. According to the India Army, it has arranged two columns and two engineer task forces in Odisha and eight columns and one engineer task force in West Bengal.
