GUWAHATI: A plot to disturb the poll process by assassinating top leaders including a Minister has been unearthed by the State Police.
Based on a telephonic conversation, Crime Branch Guwahati and Dispur Police arrested pro-talk ULFA leader Pradeep Gogoi from Hatigaon on Monday night in this regard. Meanwhile, two other persons who were on the call with Gogoi Manab Pathak and Ketu Mudi were also arrested from Karbi Anglong the same night. Manab Pathak serves the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) as a market supervisor while Ketu Mudi is his associate.
The Crime Branch has registered a Suo Moto case 06/2021 u/s 120 (B)/121/121(A)/ 122 r/w 18 of UPA.
A senior police officer, who do not want to be named, told ET: "On Monday, a secret input was received from a reliable source that a group of ULFA (pro-talk ) militants namely Manab Pathak , Pradeep Gogoi and Ketu mudi along with some unidentified members of the group conspired to assassinate the Finance Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma."
