COVID-19: Taylor County adds 1 death, 2 new cases Monday The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District on Monday reported one COVID-19-linked death, two new cases and eight recoveries.  The deceased is a woman in her 80s. The total number of county deaths connected to the coronavirus is 395, and the average age of the deceased is 75. The county has reported seven COVID-19-linked deaths in April, compared to 39 in March and 70 in February. Both of the new cases are based on antigen tests.  Active cases total 137 (50 based on polymerase chain reaction tests and 87 on antigen tests). COVID-19 inpatients at Abilene hospitals total 15, city officials said, which is two fewer than reported Sunday. The average age of the inpatients is 60, and five of them live outside Taylor County.
