Tri-Valley Leadership Group Honors Student Innovators

The Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group this week awarded its annual 10th annual Dreammakers and Risktakers Awards to 20 local students. College to Host Virtual Literary Arts Festival

  Las Positas College is hosting a virtual Literary Arts Festival this Saturday, May 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. More information and free registration is at www.laspositascollege.edu/literary-festival. This festival is sponsored by the City of Livermore Arts Commission, Las Positas College Foundation, and grants from Ted and Dale Kaye and the Don Milanese Family. You can participate in events throughout the day, including a memoir writing panel, fantasy fiction workshop, screenwriting presentation (by the writer of “Liar, Liar” with Jim Carey and more), novel writing and self-publishing presentations, past and present Tri-Valley poets laureate panel and the event ends with a live poetry slam.

Black History Month in 2021

A screening of the documentary Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools is set for next Wednesday (Feb. 24). According to the library s website, the film takes a close look at the educational, judicial and societal disparities facing Black girls. Throughout the entire month, the library is also offering a Black Lives Matter sign-making activity for youth and teens. We re definitely going to be doing more programs for racial justice and Black history throughout the year, Sevilla said. Equity and diversity and inclusion is something that the library is committed to year-round, so that s something that s definitely on the horizon.
