Three Indian Naval warships loaded with medical equipment to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, including cryogenic oxygen tanks, oxygen cylinders, Rapid Antigen Test kits, oxygen concentrators and personal protection equipment docked at three different ports on May 10. While the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Airavat docked at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, INS Kolkata and INS Trikand berthed at New Mangalore, Karnataka, and Mumbai, Maharashtra, respectively.
The three warships are part of the flotilla of nine vessels that the Navy has deployed for use in the ongoing COVID-19 relief operations, code-named Operation Samudra Setu II. INS Kolkata reached New Mangalore Port on Monday carrying 40 MT of medical oxygen filled in ISO tanks from Kuwait.
It also carried 200 oxygen cylinders packed in 10 pallets weighing 10 MT and four high flow oxygen concentrators.
The vessel arrived at berth number 7 and the work of unloading the tanks is in progress.
The distribution of the oxygen will be decided by the state government.
As part of the Samudra Setu -II, the Indian Naval ship had recently reached Port Shuwaikh in Kuwait to get liquid medical oxygen and other medical items to India.
Earlier, ‘INS Talwar,’ carrying 40 metric tonnes (MT) of liquid medical oxygen filled in ISO cryogenic containers had arrived at the New Mangalore Port (NMP) on May 6.

In support of the fight against Covid-19 and as part of the Indian Navy s ongoing operation Samudra Setu II , INS Kolkata arrived at New Mangalore Port on Monday carrying critical medical supplies including liquid medical oxygen from Qatar and Kuwait, a defence official said. The ship brought in 400 bottles of Oxygen and two containers of 30 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen that were embarked at Qatar and Kuwait. The ship left Port Shuwaikh, Kuwait on May 5, the official said.

The entire shipment is delivered to Indian Oil Corporation Limited for further necessary action, he added.

Mangaluru, May 10: Indian Naval Ship ‘Kolkata’ today arrived at New Mangalore Port carrying 40 metric tonnes of medical oxygen filled in ISO tanks from Kuwait.
It also carried five tonnes of oxygen cylinders and four high flow oxygen concentrators. The vessel arrived at berth number 7 and the work of unloading the tanks is in progress. The distribution of the oxygen will be decided by the state government.
