Port Huron City Council will meet in both a special and regular session meeting this evening. First during a special session, council will be discussing a proposal from Johnson Controls for work at the Palmer Park Recreation Center, McMorran, and DPW facility. The nearly $4-million proposal uses American Rescue Plan dollars to help replace and upgrade heating and air conditioning, electrical, lighting, and security. Following special session, council will then enter regular session which could see multiple bids approved for some long anticipated construction projects. That includes a $28,000 bid from Stainless Cable Solutions for perimeter fencing for the McMorran plaza and a $2.2-million bid for the reconstruction of Fort Street from Raymond Excavating. Officials are also expected to accept a over $300-thousand dollar grant for asset management at the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant. Port Huron City Council meets this evening. Members will be asked to grant City Manager James Freed the ability to execute condominium agreements for the McNeil Creek Crossing project on 10th Avenue. Council will also make official the name "Gator Avenue" for the street that will provide access to the new development, as chosen by students at the nearby Garfield Elementary school. Council will also be asked to increase rates for Lakeside Cemetery, with various services and charges seeing hikes between $20 and $50. Port Huron City Council meets tonight in their first regular session meeting of the New Year. Tonight's agenda includes a bid for repair work at the historic Marshall Fredericks McMorran Place fountain. The nearly $39,000 quote is from National Restoration Inc of Milford, Michigan and would come from the McMorran Fund. Work includes removing and replacing damaged brick, new concrete , and paint. Also tonight, council will be asked to accept a bid for electrical control panel work a the Wastewater Treatment plant for nearly $280,000 to J. Ranack Electric. They are also poised to approve $26,000 of new ballistic from On Duty Gear shields for use by the Port Huron Police Department. Two ordinances, both dealing with the rezoning of lots on Military Street adjacent to All-Start Services in order to allow for a building expansion, will have their second reading and likely be enacted tonight.
