in the meeting last week, that they could charge them with if they don t just immediately take a book out that s been challenged as pornographic, they could charge them with felonies. but the bible, they said this is the first step towards atheism and hedonism. but all they did was the district followed their procedure of parents and teacher review committees, make a decision. and they put it in high schools only, that was it. do you think utah republicans are simply going to end up changing their own rules to protect religious texts that they approve of. there s some talk that the book of mormon could be challenged next which would be hugely controversial in utah. yes it would but the person who challenged it, i assume what they were pointing out is that the bill is flawed. because you should take everything in context, and its literary value. and they are not doing that with some books.

your age? there was nothing. nothing on television at all. nothing, nothing. i went into my young adult life when i went to college, so unprepared. and i see now, as an adult, i was left very vulnerable. i didn t fully understand consent, i didn t fully understand boundaries. i didn t understand that it could say notice things. that meant a lot of people were able to take advantage of me. you know, my early twenties were traumatic in lots of ways, i just sort of thought, what if modern teenagers didn t need to enter adulthood as clueless as i was. i wanted to just give them some backup, you know? i wanted them to go into adulthood prepared in a way that i just wasn t. i want to talk about the specific criticisms describing the book as inappropriate and pornographic. the critics tend to hone in on the single passage and share it without context. every time, they take a screen grab.
