Online privacy activists are challenging websites that don't offer a simple "yes or no" choice on allowing "cookies," trying to encourage users to agree to their activity being tracked.
you are probably received a lot of e-mails and pop up ads in recent weeks from companies telling you they are changing their privacy policies. the reason for that, the new european data privacy rules taking effect today. those are called the general data protection regulation, the shorthand for that, gdpr, they are designed to difficult citizens of european countries more control over their personal data. americans and people who live outside of the eu are not covered by the rules but any company who does business in the eu are required to fall the gdpr rules. they have to use plain hang to explain how they collect and use data. in theory, users will be able to access and dheet their personal data. companies have to disclose data preaches within 72 years.
