Delhi University has appointed Professor Pooran Chand Joshi as interim Vice-Chancellor on March 10, 2021. Professor PC Joshi has been recruited as the interim VC as Professor Yogesh Kumar Tyagi s tenure came to an end on March 9, 2021. The appointment of interim Vice-Chancellor is made by following the Delhi University Act, 1922.
The outgoing VC Prof Yogesh Kumar Tyagi was suspended from his position due to the misconduct in official records and his absences. Prof. Tyagi found guilty of leaving faculty positions vacant for years despite multiple reminders. He was suspended last year in October by the president of India, Ram Nath Kovind. Delhi
